wmp11 large cpu usage

WMP11 large CPU usage

I have searched and I could not find this issue most seem to be sound or not reading. Mine is when it playing files on my or CD I just can not have nice clean play. What is happening is that my CPU usage is going off the wall. One point it will be 5% then it shoots up to 66-100% . When that happens the play starts have like a skipping sound. I know it is not a RAM issue since I just installed 2 gigs of OCZ ram. I am just not getting what is causing WMP to eat up so much of my CPU.
Thanks for any help on this I would just like to try and figure this out.

G'day Neal.
Several people have said that disabling the Sidebar worked for them, although it didn't have any noticable effect for me. Others said turning off some of the visual effects helped.
The solution that has given me the best result so far is to disable my onboard LAN device. This wasn't a big problem for me since I didn't use it, I have a network card installed which my router is connected to.
Now I know that this solution is not going to work for everyone, it did for me.
Something else that you can try is this.
Open the Control Panel -> System and Maintenance and select Performance Rating and Tools. Under Performance Issues, you may see some alerts to various drivers that may be causing problems. If any of these are not necessary try disabling them to see if that gives you a performance boost. Obviously, don't disable anything that you are not sure about without checking it out first.
